What a coffee park does to the economy around it

Speaking on Tayari West TV, Africa Coffee Park CEO Dr. Nelson Tugume set out what the park has meant for the area immediately around it.

Three years ago a house nearby could be rented for roughly UGX 20,000 a month. Today the cheapest is around UGX 150,000. That is a blunt measure, and it cuts both ways — but it is the clearest available signal that economic activity has arrived in Rwashameire.

The wider point: Africa Coffee Park is not only adding value to coffee. It is adding value to the local economy through jobs, business and opportunity — supported by infrastructure at a scale the district has not seen before, including the more than 60 MW of power now serving the park.
